One week in Sicily

I had always wanted to visit Sicily, and my parents surprised me with a trip for my 40th birthday.

Palermo was everything I hoped for and more. The food was incredible, the architecture was beautiful, and the people were so friendly. I could easily see myself spending a lot more time here.

We started our days with espresso and pastries at one of the many cafes dotting the city. Then we would wander around, taking in the sights and sounds of this vibrant place. The market stalls were full of fresh produce and seafood, and the smell of frying garlic and onions filled the air.

In the evening, we would head to one of the many restaurants for a leisurely dinner. I can't even begin to describe how good the food was. We had pasta with freshly caught seafood, eggplant parmigiana, and the most amazing cannoli for dessert. I'm already planning my next trip back to Palermo. If you're looking for a place to relax, eat amazing food, and experience true Sicilian hospitality, this is it.
